1st and 2nd Results - Week 7

Despite a very wet Saturday afternoon, Steeple Langford saw both their sides in action, with contrasting fortunes.

The 1st XI travelled to Burghclere in pursuit of keeping their 100% record going. After fielding first, they were able to restrict the hosts to 193, with Luke Stevens taking 5-50. B Lawrence and S Tinder both hit fifties for the hosts.

With rain interruptions taking place, Langford were set a revised target from 36 overs. However, they were unable to make the most of a good position, having needed 21 off the last 5 overs, as they were bowled out for 157, taking 10 points from the game.

The 2nd team had contrasting fortunes against Great Durnford, as they won the toss and batted first. They got off to a solid start thanks to Charlie Burrows (38) and after a couple of rain delays and an early tea, they managed to finish their innings strongly, with Jay Short hitting 87, well supported by Ben Hatt (45) to get the home side up to 233.

In reply, Great Durnford got off to a poor start in their chase of a revised target (172 off 26 overs), as Chris Miles (2-20) carried on where he left off from last week, taking 2 wickets in his first over. However, they managed to keep up with the rate for the first few overs, before a steady flow of wickets saw them fall behind the rate. Wickets for Adam Dhanji (2-20) and Ben Hatt (2-6) brought the innings to a close, as Great Durnford were bowled out for 118, well below their target.
