1st XI Match Report 2nd July 2016

Liss 1st XI v Steeple Langford 1st XI

Steeple Langford 1st XI  made the long trip to Liss but it was in vain with heavy showers putting paid to any hope of completing a full game. They got started on time with skipper Andy Bennett once again winning the toss and putting the home side in to bat on a softish green wicket. The Langford  openers bowled well with Liam Harvey in particular regularly putting the ball in the right areas, picking up a much deserved early wicket. 17 overs were bowled before the first heavy shower forced the players off for 45 minutes, although they were able to get the covers on in time to protect the wicket. When play resumed, Langford continued to bowl with accuracy and Tom Bennett took 2 wickets in his 4 overs. However, the rain came in again putting paid to the days play and leaving Liss on 74 for 3 from the 25 overs bowled. Steeple Langford are on their travels again this Saturday, visiting Liss’ neighbours Liphook & Ripsley and hope to make the long journey worthwhile this time.
