2nd XI Match Report - 23rd May 2015

STEEPLE LANGFORD II v OVERTON II

Stand in Langford captain Matt Pieterse won the toss and elected to field. Chris Miles bowled steadily (3/39) to remove the first three Overton batsman before 15 year old Will Lewis stole the show with a five wicket haul (5/29) on his first game for the league team. Lewis bowled an excellent line and length getting plenty of swing and will hopefully become a fixture in the team for the rest of the season. The Overton batsmen were never really allowed to get going with Spaul (36 n.o.) being the highest scorer.

The Langford openers Simon Ford and Clive Perry set about the Overton bowlers straight from the start with the opening bowler Cross living up to his name as he disappeared over the bungalows on a number of occasions. Ford in particular played as if he was late for work but was eventually out for 63 in just the 14th over. Martin Grearson (57 n.o.) then steered the team home assisted by a quick fire 23 n.o. from Darren Harvey.

A good game played in a great spirit resulted in a five wicket win for Steeple Langford.
