Back to winning? 1st XI Match Report 1st July

Saturday saw Langford entertain Littleton & West Hill and look to stop the rot of previous weeks. On a damp pitch it seemed the toss could prove decisive with the weather set fair all day. Stephens won and didn’t hesitate in inserting the opposition. Looking to take early wickets with a threadbare attack, Andy Bennett and Chris Mundy obliged bowling tight lines and being backed up with good catching in the field. Wickets tumbled with Andy Bennett being rewarded with 5-15 from his 10 overs, assisted by Chris Mundy 2-18 off 10 overs. Tom Bennett and Luke Stephens were then introduced and continued to put the Littleton batting line-up under pressure before taking the final 3 wickets. Luke Stephens finished with 2-15. Only J Cook offered resistance scoring 22.

The Langford reply started well with Tom Bennett scoring freely before falling to P Cook for 16. This brought Chris Mundy to the crease; he set about chasing the small total. Nick Mundy assisted in nullifying the away team’s attack before finally reaching the total inside 20 overs. Chris Mundy top scored with 38 and Nick Mundy finished on 20 to secure a comfortable 9-wicket win for Langford.

Next week sees no game for Langford before looking to put together a winning run with the trip to RAM.
