County Division 4 North – Steeple Langford 1st XI v Whiteparish 1st XI

Steeple Langford 1st XI made it 7 wins out of 7 with a comfortable 51 run away win at Whiteparish. Put into bat, Langford were quickly into the runs with skipper Andy Bennett and Adam McNeilly putting on 47 in 10 overs before McNeilly (23) decided to go fishing and tickled one to the keeper. This brought Adi Hughes to the crease and he and Bennett pushed the score along to 125 at the drinks break with a big score looking on the cards. Hughes went soon after though for a positive 30 and with wickets in hand Bennett decided to try and speed things along before being stumped for an excellent 84. After that the recently in form middle order never really got going with only Chris Mundy (22) and Tom Bennett (22) making decent contributions but Langford obtained the maximum batting points, finishing on 229 all out off the last ball of their allotted 45 overs. Dance took 3 for 20 and Dovey 3 for 40 for Whiteparish. In reply the home side lost 2 quick wickets with Nick Partridge clean bowling both and breaking 2 stumps in the process. His pace and movement caused the Whiteparish batsmen no end of problems and with the score on 40 he picked up his 3rd wicket caught behind. A few of the batsmen made small contributions but wickets fell regularly with Hamblin (55) keeping one end intact but wickets fell at regular intervals and the run rate was always increasing.  The Whiteparish innings petered out to 178 for 8 (Dance 28*), Partridge taking an excellent 3 for 26 off his 10 overs and young Liam Harvey a fine 3 for 30 from his 7 overs.
