Sat 14th April - The early season starter game against Hythe & Dibden was cancelled due to the rain!

Sat 21st April v South Wilts III's did go ahead on the artificial pitch. Thanks to Chris Miles for this report............

21 April 2018

With the weather having been wet for so long and the pitch not yet fully prepared, the first friendly of the season took place on the artificial wicket. South Wilts won the toss and batted first. Runs came fairly freely throughout the 40 overs with three batsmen being ‘retired’ out on completing their half centuries. Sean Bailey, Andy Bennett, Darren Harvey and Tom Bennett all took a wicket each for the home side with Adam Dhanji completing a smart run out. In truth, South Wilts were never really troubled(245 for 5) but Langford gave eight bowlers five overs each which hopefully got rid of a bit of rustiness.

The Langford response started in typical early season fashion being 9 for 2 at the end of the 5th over and 27 for 4 at the end of the 11th over. A brief recovery in the middle order followed as Sean Bailey (23) and Adam Dhanji (42) started finding the boundary more often. Adi Hughes (15) and Darren Harvey (13) were the only other Langford batsmen to make double figures with the innings coming to an end on 123 all out in the 32nd over. A comprehensive and deserved win for South Wilts.

Sat 28th April v Kilmington & Sturton was also cancelled due to the rain!
