Langford into the Semi's!!

Steeple Langford continued their impressive Tuesday night league run, this time coming in the cup quarter final against Chalke Valley.

On a scorching evening, Langford bowled first and were soon into their stride, with Nick Partidge (bowling with pace and accuracy) took the wicket of Jeffrey for just 1! Matt De Pass also joined the action with some tidy bowling and accounted for the usually dangerous Hitchings for 5, Simon Ford taking a good catch in order the give De Pass a wicket he deserved. Johnson and Fortescue held the fort for Valley, Johnson in particular not looking troubled but slowly compling his innings where as Fortescue looked to attack Langfords bowlers. Langford stuck at it and were rewarded with a wicket with Fortescue being bowled by golden arm Alec Lloyd (can the boy do no wrong), Johnson however went on to complete his 52* and some tight bowling at the death left Langford nedding 140 to win, Cahle Valley ending up on 139-3.

Langford reply started ok, with Lloyd and Tom Bennett ticking the score over but both departed soon after each other, Lloyd being bowled and Bennett caught at cover. Simon Ford and Chris Mundy then were together and with some quick singles, running well between the wickets turning 1's into 2's got Langford to 42 after 7 overs, Ford then missed a straight one leaving Langford 42-3, still needing 98! Nick Partridge came in and batted with his normal aggression, taking it to the bowlers and hitting some much needed boundaries. With both he and Mundy looking comfortable and edging Langford to the end, Fortescue came on and helped the team out, sending down 5 wides and going for 15 off his over, with only 20 needed from 4 overs Partridge was caught going for a big one of Hulme, Tom Dennis quickly came and went chopping on but then Nathan Hill and Chris Mundy saw us home with an over and 5 wickets to spare, Mundy ending with 42*.

Another excellent team performance, South Newton now in the Semi Finals and next week in the league, revenge is due!!
