Match report 3rd Aug

1st XI home to Paultons II

Paultons II 259 for 7 SLCC 175 for 9

Not a good day for the Steeple Langford 1st team at home yesterday.
Fielding first, a couple of quick wickets gave hope but they were followed by a century stand for the 3rd wicket that turned things in the favour of the visitors. With wickets in hand, the runs started to flow freely as Paultons eventually finished on 259 for 7. Andy Bennett being the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 41.
The Langford response didn’t start well being 3 wickets down in no time. Nick Partridge (45) and Harry Mould (18) helped rebuild the innings together with Simon Ralph (29). Langford were well behind the run rate so batting points became key and some good hitting by the tail, Liam Harvey (23) and Will Lewis (18), brought the score up to 175 for 9 at the end.
