Oh dear... 1st XI Match Report 26th June

Saturday had a déjà vu feel to it with Langford losing away at South Wilts III’s. Having won the toss, Stephens elected to bat and looked to post a competitive total. Excellent early bowling from the South Wilts openers restricted the Langford stroke play before the pressure finally telling. First to fall was Tom Bennett before the usual flurry of wickets. Ten of the Langford batting line-up failed to make double figures with only Luke Emm 11 and the ever consistent extras top scoring with 12. Langford skittled out for a woeful 47. South wilts bowlers all returned with superb figures, Tom Lewis 3-12 , Akram Ghauri 3-7, Tom Bolam 2-6 and Ben Fisher 2-14.

South Wilts reply wasn’t all plain sailing with the home team losing 4 wickets before inevitably chasing the small total. Luke Stephens the pick with 3-13 and Chris Mundy taking 1-17. On reflection another 50 runs for the visitors could have been enough to win the game.

Next week sees Langford host Littleton and West Hill and hopefully stop the rot.
