Pyjama Party No.2 Cancelled

Langford arrived at Chalke Valley (a little bit late), buoyed by the previous win against Fovant, looking to make it 2 wins from 2 against another pyjama wearing team.

Ford lost the toss and initially took to the field with 5 players, slowly, before the other tribe arrived in tandem, quickly changing to make a full 11.

Matt Dhanji and Luke Stephens opened the bowling and after a steady start Dhanji was rewarded with the wicket of Johnson, caught behind by Pete Smith, who had already shelled two with his baking tray gloves, umpire Troggs gave the batsman and Langford had their first wicket, both bowlers bowled tidily and finished their 8 overs before being replaced by Gary Smith and Liam Harvey.

The game then changed with Smith taking wickets of Hitchings and Brown, mention to Matt Dhanji who took a steepler of a catch to remove the dangerous Hitchings. Alec Lloyd chipped in with a direct throw running out Jeffrey without facing and then Liam Harvey accounted for Mercer and Verdin, bowling the best he's bowled all year. Chalke Valley limped to 107-6 off their 20 overs, with Smith taking 2-15 and Harvey taking 2-18.

Beattie and Smith were sent out to take the attack to the Chalke Valley bowling, Hitchings went with the theory of trying to bowl some short stuff which Smith duly dispatched in consecutive balls. Beattie using his new bat smeared one to deep midwicket and then got carried away and was cuaght leaving us 40-1 off 4, Alec (I don't fancy batting tonight) Lloyd was sent in at 3 and joined in the fun with Smith, striking the ball sweetly and continuing to take the game away from Valley. Smith was caught going for one shot too many but had made an excellent and brutal 31. Ford joined Lloyd and the pair continued to play shots, Ford dispatching slow bowler Hulme for 4's and Lloyd timing and dancing down the track to Brown, proving that Ford was right putting him into bat when he didnt want to! The pair reached the 12th over with only 1 needed to win, Ford decided to plant a massive 6 to deep midwicket and the game was over, a fantastic and aggressive win for Langford, with Lloyd finishing on an excellent 42* and Ford 21*.

Langford continue their march up the table at home to Boscombe Down next week!
