Results - Week 4.

Steeple Langford 1st's continued a good start to the season on Saturday with a win over Chawton. The visitors batted first, scoring 230-9, thanks to half centuries from J. Channon (78) and J. Harvey (72*). Andy Bennett was the stand out bowler for Steeple Langford, taking 5-52, helping to restrict the visitors to under 250.

Langford got off to a steady start in their chase, setting a solid base at 80-2 off of 20 overs. However, Si Ford was the man of the moment, as he hit an unbeaten 112 to see the hosts home for the loss of only 3 wickets. He was well supported by fellow batsman Martin Grearson, who hit his second consecutive 50.

Steeple Langford II also ran out victorious, overcoming a disappointing defeat last week, against Thruxton thanks to a cracking bowling display. After only setting 114 after winning the toss, backs looked to be against the wall. However, a good 9th wicket partnership from Mark Thompson (30*) & Trev Thompson, took the target over 100, giving the away side something to defend.

Langford didn’t get off to the best of starts after tea, with only 1 wicket coming from the opening bowlers, and it took changes from both ends to start the rot. Mark Thompson (4-12), which included a superb caught and bowled, and Tom Dhanji (3-10) swung the game in Langford’s favour in a tremendous 14 overs, which also saw a smart run out, left the Thruxton reeling at 62-9. A brave last wicket partnership took the home side to 75, before Adam Dhanji (2-19) took the final wicket to secure the win for Langford’s 2nd XI.
