Rollercoaster Saturday season continues - 1st XI Match Report

Saturday saw Langford's rollercoaster season take another dip away at the hands of Hook & Newham III. The hosts made a positive start with the bat and looked to pounce on anything loose from the Langford attack. However, Langford took wickets at regular intervals to help stem the flow of runs. As the Langford attack toiled in the heat the Hook opener Harry Robson batted excellently until being dismissed for an impressive 68. Late wickets tumbled with Chris Miles being the pick of the attack finishing with a deserved  4-39 and Luke Stephens assisting with 2-33. Hook finishing on what seemed an above par 187.

The Langford reply had an all too familiar feel to it with a glut of wickets going down. Starts were made by Nick Partridge, Nick Mundy and Chris Mundy scoring 26, 24 and 22 respectively. Langford continued to gift away wickets though with Liam Harvey the the last man to fall. Langford limping to  108 all out. Hook's standout bowlers were James Dovey 4-40 and Luke Simpson 3-6.

The result leaves Langford 15th in the table and searching for a much needed boost. Next week sees Langford make the short trip to South Wilts and look to make amendss on a historically batsman friendly track.
