Sunday team update - Adult team

Won one and lost one!

On Sunday 15th May the adult team entertained a very young and talented Westbury XI. The team being put together by Gordon Gill our IOG pitch advisor(He likes to check if Pete Dennis has taken his advice regarding pitch preparation).

We again won the toss and decided to bat first. In fairness to Westbury all 11 players bowled and on most Sundays 173 for 7 off 30 overs(Thanks to the LLoyd family act Alec 44, Ian 36 and Tom Stobbs 26) might have given us a chance. The mutterings at tea were that we needed at least another 100 to make a game of it.

That is how it turned out 24 overs later Westbury passed our total for the loss of only one wicket that other 100 runs would have come in very handy.

Sunday 22nd May saw Sunderland Supporters arrive all proudly wearing their red and white shirts celebrating another year in the premiership. The captains hatched a plan around a 20 over game presumably because of the weather and as with all previous games this season won the toss again and batted. The pitch was wet to start off and not easy with the Lloyd duo again scoring the runs(Alec 50* and Ian 47*) SLCC posted 128 for 3.

The supporters were never really in it until with 5 overs to go their captain looked to be winning it for them. It took a good catch on the boundry by Will Lewis to send him packing. One wicket each for Luke Stephens and Joe McNeilly and Alec LLoyd took 2 in the last wicket scramble. Final score 109 for 5.
