Tuesday night update

Tuesday nights are into full swing. 3 games scheduled, 1 rained off, 1 loss and 1 win thus far. Most recently a win against Shrewton. Tom Bennett took his charges to Shrewton and was asked to bowl first, which worked out in Langford's favour as they restricted Shrewton to 119-9 off 20 overs, using what can only be described as a Sports Direct supplied coloured ball. The captain himself taking 3 wickets, ably backed up by Alec Lloyd 2-14 and Smith, De Pas and Stephens all taking a wicket a piece.

A great all round bowling and fielding performance, special mention to Paul (Mike Ashley) Long and Ian Easley for helping out, Long in particular showing arrogance with one handed pick ups and Easley using his boot to stop all things that came his way.

Openers Bennett and Lloyd then got Langford off to a good start chasing down a very gettable target. Lloyd however was first to go and then quickly joined by Easley, Bennett however continued to play his shots and was rewarded with a first 50 of the season and took Langford to the brink with 4 overs to go, brother Bennett chipped in with a useful 16 and Gary Smith finished the innings off meaning Langford took home the 2 points and a fantastic win.

In the previous game against South Newton, Langford scored a healthy 146-4 off their 20 overs, Ford and Smith both scoring 50's, however South Newton batsman played thier shots and along with some under par bowling at times, South Newton reached the target with an over to spare. Disappointment for Langford but they bounced back against Shrewton so the season is now underway. Chalke Valley away next week.
