Tuesday side finish 2nd

The last Tuesday game of the season still had potential for Langford to win the league, depending on Shrewton's result against Boscombe Down and whether the rain would play a part.

On an overcast night after a damp day Langford bowled first against Berwick. Chris Mundy in particular bowling an excellent opening spell where he accounted for Dickenson for 9. Foster and Haggaty looked to take the attack to Langford but as the outfield was long and a bit damp had to rely on boundaries, which accounted for Foster first for 15 caught by Gary Smith off Bobby Dazzler Harvey. However Hagatty remained and accelerated the scoring before departing to a catch by McNeilly in the deep (yes you did read that right). Alec Lloyd and Darren Harvey finishing with 2 wickets a piece as runs dried up and Berwick left a tricky 109 to chase.

Luke Stephens was sent in with Smith as he had to get to a party and played a few lusty strokes before he was caught, Alec Lloyd came and went for 0 before Smith was also caught leaving Langford struggling and with the rain imminent Langford needed to be on at least 55 after 10 overs to win the game. Ford and McNeilly were now at the crease, Ford looking to run quick singles, turn 2s into 3s and McNeilly striking the ball well, they took the score to 64-4 off 10 overs beofe the rain came. The teams tried to go back out but the rain by this point was relentless, when both captains shook hands giving Langford the win, McNeilly 17* and Ford 7*. Langford hit the pub awaiting Shrewtons result and bad news, Shrewton stuffed Boscombe before the rain came meaning 2nd place not 1st was ours, so close but a fantatsic season overall.

Troggs and myself have really enjoyed this season, as I think have the whole team and bar 2 games it has been brilliant, let's use this motivation to go one better next year, Thanks all!!
