On a blustery but warm afternoon Tom won the toss and elected to field first. Max and Tom opened the bowling. Max being slightly wayward in his first few overs, while Tom bowled with more control, producing some away swing. Their persistence paid off with each of them claiming an opener's wicket apiece.
Jasper and Tobin came on next. Jasper bowled a great spell with pace and accuracy and was unbelievably unlucky not to pick up a wicket. Tobin bowled with control, learning that accuracy is more important than speed! This policy was rewarded in his fourth over when he picked up 2 wickets.
With Warminster on 80-5 after 16 overs Steeple Langford were very much on top. However they had some strong hitters in their lower order and things slightly got away from us, aided by some dropped catches, and they were eventually all out for 178.
Extras again prove to be our nemesis, an area we need to improve. The ground fielding has improved; there were two run outs, but a number of catches went down, again an area we will work on. The wickets were shared around, showing that we have a number of strong bowlers, with Tobin taking 2-13, Tom 2-37, Max 2-38, Harry 1-17 and Henry taking his first wicket of the season.
The chase proved to be very exiting. We got off to a quick start with Jasper continuing where he left off off in the last match, and Harry batting well. After hitting 4 fours in a row Jasper tried for a fifth but missed a straight one! Harry and Tom continued strongly but both came unstuck against the introduction of spin. Max looked in good touch but was another victim of the spinner.
At 115-4 after 15 overs the chase looked under control with Tobin and Jayden at the crease. Tobin batted beautifully but was starting to run out partners. Jayden, Alex C, Oscar all looked good but all were caught in the field and as the wickets fell the run rate slowed, the pressure built. Josh came and went and it was left to Henry to keep Tobin company. At 8 down with 12 more runs required it was getting tight. Their best bowlers were brought back on and Henry did very well to keep them out and snatch a few singles to get Tobin back on strike. Tobin kept his cool and the target was reached with 8 balls to spare. Steeple Langford win by 2 wickets.  Tobin finished 43 not out, the stand out batting performance, with Jasper making a quick 33 and Harry a solid 20.
All in all a real team performance, with everyone contributing. The good news is that I still don't think we've seen the best from this team. There is a lot of potential here and I think the best is still to come.
